Major issues with xfree
In the past (from a fresh install) I have installed xfree driver to use with my radeon 9600 with 256MB vram. I couldn't get KDE to load and being a newbie to linux, had no idea what to do. My only option at the time was to reformat. I want to get some kind of 3d graphics going on and try my hand at WINE gaming. This time I don't want to lose my data (seeing as I have some now
) and am wondering if anyone has some experience with this. Or if it is even possible to run on my card. I am also wondering if someone can point me to a place with some kind of resource that will tell me what to do through the console if KDE fails to load.
Please and Thanks!

1) ATI has their own drivers you can try
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27
2) the DRI project has drivers too---i'm using just plain old 'radeon' driver with a 9200 series and have just gotten 3d rendering too work. http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/
3) wine will not play that many games. I'm not an expert on this but there is a program you can purchase called cedega --and is discussed on many threads in this forum. All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

I just found out that I actually had the latest version of xfree.....must have came over a suse update.
The problem is that suse doesn't support my graphics card so I have to find a way to enable 3d acceleration.
And half life 1 supposedly runs fine over wine, but I meant to get cedega which is basically the same thing right?
