how do I get Mplayer to work?
Hello, I'm sort of new to linux and I have a workstation running Fedora core 3. I downloaded and installed Mplayer, ( I think ) and I can't get it to work. I tried installing it again and it said it is allready installed. I see the executable in the bin folder but I don't know what to do with it. Can anyone please help me?

type mplayer from a terminal. it will present you with a help screen. if you have the gui installed for mplayer as well, you can just type gmplayer.

if you use a file manager like konqueror, you can assign mplayer as the default application to open a video file when you execute it

to see if you have the gui installed, type:
if not, then you'll want to reinstall mplayer, except when you run ./configure, run it like this:Code:gmplayer
Code:./configure --enable-gui
