problem with g force
ive been told i have a problem with my graphics driver because my games dont run smoothly. no idea where to start. i have a nforce chipset, part of which is a gforce 4 64 mb, and during the boot the graphics card is reconized. again i have no idea wat info you might need, but if any one could help it would be appretiated

wouldnt have a clue where to get them. i just figured that since i got a picture on my screen linux had done it itself. no i guess. im rather linux incompedent as it stands.

*DEAD* you get the nvidia drivers from nvidia's website....

wow. i didnt realize that companies actually made linux drivers. i had to install my soundblaster the hard way. thx neway

The X server controles the Graphics, you can't have it running while you are installing the nvidia drivers, so close it with
dylunioCode:telinit 3

if ur on SuSE or gentoo, use the distro's own nvidia drivers, if it's another distro, download the drivers from the nvidia website

i have 1 more really really stupid question. i typed telinit 3 into the console and then it seemed as tho everything shut down, well it just gave me a blank screen anyways. how am i meant to type the sh command into the konsole if theres no konsole to begin with. after a couple mins it returns to the boot screen (1 with all the green OKs) but the keyboard is locked and i cant type nething.
