UT runs like hell, frame by frame...
Hello I just put the original UT on my Gentoo box. Although I am estatic that I finally got it to work, I am a bit frusterated right now because it runs frame by frame. It's wildly slow and it's nearly impossible to play. How do I fix my frame rate? Any help would be great.
PS: I have UT2K4 - I would just rather have the original. Should I put on UT2K4, would this fix the problem?Registered Linux user #393103

I had same issues with UT99 beleive it or not. Running at like 10fps compared to about 110 on Windows. Your problem is not installing your card's 3d drivers (Nvidia or ATI prehaps). I have my nvidia-drivers installed, and my fps is still ****.

Check to make sure your 3D drivers are installed correctly by running glxgears from a console. If your FPS is less than 1,000, you're probably not running in 3D-accelerated mode. What sort of video card do you have?
To God: Apparently there's something else going on with your UT install. I've been able to install and run the original UT with no problems, so I doubt it's the game itself.Registered Linux user #270181
