Favorite genres
Me myself and I'm sure other gaming developers would really like to know what you're favorite genres are in video gaming. In order to build better games for the Linux platform. I'd also like you to mention what you're favorite game is in that genre(It can be from ANY platform. PS2, XBox PC...etc). Also if you want to could you please mention which you think Linux lacks. Thanks

Phew. This is a tough one. I'm a First-Person-Shooter fan at heart, but I also love a good deep RPG sometimes. At the moment, Linux has several good commercial and non-commercial FPSes (Doom 1-3, Quake 1-3, UT/UT2003/UT2004), but only about one good commercial RPG (Neverwinter Nights).
My favorites for these two genres are Doom 3 (FPS - PC) and Final Fantasy 7 (RPG - Playstation 1).Registered Linux user #270181

It's for the PS2. I think. It can be found here
Personally I think it ruins the game.

I voted RPG. FF7 was pretty good - kind of played like a movie, but still fun. I thought FF1 was very good. At least it let you choose character classes.
I miss the old RPGs like Bard's Tale. (Not the new remake that is coming out, that is totally different.)
- 06-16-2005 #7Haha. If it's anywhere close to the original FF7, no in-game footage is going to do it justice. That's cool. If it's for the PS2 I'll have to pick it up. Haven't touched mine for anything other than playing DVDs in almost a year.
