    thing is it works perfectly on Win2000 at 1024x768 with the recommended graphics options. i imagine linux must demand higher resources without the windows API and integration to rely on.
    Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
    Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
    Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

    I've run it well on a system with almost those exact specs...there must be some other problem here. When you run glxgears in a terminal, what is your framerate?

    about 3000FPS

    EDIT: now it's went down to 1000FPS which is VERY strange. what could be causing this slowdown?

    and now, as if to add to the strangeness, it's working perfectly (albeit at minimal settings). i'm gonna install the expansions and see what happens. wish me luck
