Distributed Video Conversion
I read an article recently about creating an X-Box cluster and while that experiment was failed, one thing it did mention was using the cluster to do video rendering.
While I don't do anything as grand as 3D rendering, are there any programs that allow you to do video compression on a cluster? I would have just 2 1ghz machines with 256meg RAM that would do this, but if it helps speed up the time it takes then that is a great help. I would basically be doing VOB rips from my DVD collection to XviD codec in preperation for a multimedia PC.
