video files over network
when in windows, i could stream files from another windows computer and play it on this one without having to copy the file on to the computer. I cant find a way to do that on linux. any suggestions?

I've never tried it, but can't you just "mount" the network drive, and play the file?

like what would the code look like?

Linux mapping of an MS-Windows directory
I've never tried this. Its a good question for a "networking" thread/part of the linuxforms (as opposed to multimedia). Possibly repost your question there?

I assume, that you are trying to access an MS-Windows file from a Linux PC. ... If this was two Linux PCs being networked (with NFS), I think it would be easier.
