Ooo, I dunno about NES, but if you want SNES for linux, go look up snes9x. I don't have anything earlier than SNES though, so I can't really help you too much...
just linux-google (google.com/linux) for it, i'm sure you'll find it.

For NES: nestra
zsnes is damn slow, not really useable in my case.
snes9x is better, but still slow.

www.zophar.net has a ton of list of emulators for both windows and linux and very good descriptions of the emulators
