Linux and latentcy over MIDI cable
I have a simple question,
what hardware and software functionality would be required for me to have 2 computers connected via MIDI cable (one PC is the sequencer, probably running rosegarden, the other PC is a windows PC running the vsti's) and the vsti PC would be sending audio to the host PC via S/PDIF cable?
I would already have low latentcy soundcards installed (m-audio audiophile 2496)
I would be running Linux (with Roseguarden as the sequencer) and Instead of using the VST interface for my synths, I would be runnin the synths in standalone mode on the Other PC, essentially the VSTi PC would be treated like a hardware synth. (like a poormans receptor)
are there any requirements that I'm missing?

there is a VST host, but I was referring to a scenario where some plugins do not run smoothly using the roseguarden vst wrapper.
