yes please oh wise ppl reading this thread do tell. Having no luck getting any midi playback from my emu10k1 sound blaster life in fc4 under any kernal variant.

Well...
depends what you mean....
I would first suggest timidity, that will play midis without the using the soundcards synth, by using wavs or similar for the sounds...

By midi drivers, I think they come with ALSA. You can check which alsa-modules are loaded, maybe in /etc/modprobe.conf if you want to edit a config file, graphically I don't know how to do it. Not sure what module you need either, but I know a bunch of midi drivers come with ALSA.
