    Yes, although glxgears is not a benchmarking tool an improved fps there will indicate higher gaming performance. Some games (Lincity and SuperTux are the ones that come to mind) will display fps during play. You may not get the same fps in the games as you would just from glxgears, but the higher fps in glxgears should reflect in a higher fps in the games. The fps in both the games and glxgears is dependant on cpu processes, ram/swap usage, etc.

    installed cedega, and counterstrike runs great on my ATI card. i was too lazy to go any find any of my real games, so i installed CS1.6 from steam
