What chipset does your sound card use? Are you having sound problems in any other applications? Have you looked at these threads?

last night i did not know what chip set my card used now i do and it's an AC97
i also read those threads yesterday none of what was suggested worked
- 03-07-2006 #4If you have an AC97 codec (as I suspected) one of the above should work. Can you be more specific with what you've tried? Do you have sound issues in any other programs?

Try turning off the KDE sound system (artsd) in your Control Panel. If you're not getting sound in anything other than KDE apps, it could be blocking sound to your card.
