no sound with cd-rom
I have a yamaha ymf-724f [ds-1 audio controller] which works fine, but when I try to play a audio cd thru my yamaha crd-8240b I cant hear the music that is playing. OS Redhat 8.0 I thought of the digital button that windows has in device manger, but no such luck. any help would be great.
Thanks. scoobie

First off...can you hear other sounds in Linux (waves, mp3s, etc.)? And can/could you play CDs from that drive in Windows?
You may have the CD volume muted or turned down. Check your mixer (somewhere in your Multimedia menu) levels and see if that fixes it."Time is an illusion. Lunchtime, doubly so."

all sounds are a go and yes it does work with windows. On windows I would have to go to device manger and to disk drive select the driver and click for digital cds to be play, but it does work.
