Video codec 'MS WMV 9 (win32)'-DEBIAN?!!!
I can not play some movies in totem player nor in any other...I tried installing Mplayer and other things...It does not work. What can I do? How do I download codecs....
Take notice: I am just a beginner
This is the problem if I try tu run totem player:
Video codec 'MS WMV 9 (win32)' is not handled. You might need to install additional plugins to be able to play some types of movies.
One of the things I did:
apt-get install w32codecs
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package w32codecs is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package w32codecs has no installation candidate????
Anyways...Heeeeeelp!!!!

That will probably be a tough one. Are you running sarge or etch? Etch has newer libxine as well as other libs that support a lot more formats but you probably got the right idea with the win32codecs.
If running sarge then
Add in your /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sarge main
then
apt-get update
apt-get install w32codecs
If running etch then
Add in your /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org etch main
then
apt-get update
apt-get install w32codecs

It did not help. I have the most updated w32codecs but still get the message:

Any other advice?
Thanks a lot

I think that VLC may play it, it did with me.
I've recently reinstalled linux, and I'm having some trouble managing to have back all things working like they were before. Any given player (kaffeine, mplayer, vlc) would play almost any type of file, with little specific exceptions... vlc wouldn't play rmvb and some other details like that.
Now it's far worse, but VLC plays wmv at least.
