i know they will be releasing a version for the Mac sometime after the pc release but there is not date for the release yet, but i have heard there is no plans to create a version for linux i hope they change there minds

well the game was shipped today but on gamestop.com the price is $54.99 that is windows

The official word, according to CEO Todd Hollenshead, is this:

Mac and Linux: Unfortunately I don't have dates for either of these. However, Linux binaries will be
available very soon after the PC game hits store shelves. There are no plans for boxed Linux games.
More remains to be done for the OSX version of DOOM 3 and that will take some time. We won't release
the OSX version until it's just as polished as the PC version. The date for OSX DOOM 3 remains "when it's
done", but I can confirm that it's definitely coming.

The general consensus I get from other boards I've looked at is plan on the Linux version to come out along with the first Win32 Point Release, which should be any time now.

Doom 3 runs on Gentoo compiled for Athlon xp with Geforce 5200 and is just fast enough to be decently playable with lower settings and Athlon Barton +2500, besides a better graphic card is recommendable.

Can you give a source for that assertion? I was aware they're beta testing the client, but I wasn't aware any official stats had been released?

Good news everyone! The client/server binaries are RELEASED!

*Side note, bad news for ATI users, it's not working with fglrx yet.
