CD player
Sorry. I know I am repeating a post here already but I can't find it again. The post was mentioning pretty much the problem I was having. In Red Hat 9 my cd's are mounted, all sound works on the computer and on the internet(except for some plugins I need to set up with my browser) But when I try and listen to an audio CD it plays but there is no sound. All the hardware is correct. I used the sound card in XP and Mandrake and it worked fine with the cd player.

Do you get any error messages? Is there anything abnormal in /var/log/messages? Do you have sufficient access to the cdrom? What program's are you trying to use, and do you have a cable from the cdrom to your motherboard/soundcard?
Good luck
