After a bit of experimentation and manual reading (mplayer's documentation is somewhat lacking), I'm unable to figure out why my mixer volume is reset between every song in my playlist, to something in the 90% range. This happens with or without -softvol. It's pretty annoying to have to actively change my volume every few minutes, and kind of defeats the point of having a playlist in the first place. Would a fellow mplayer user be able to enlighten me? Thanks.
