need tv help
I'm relatively new to linux and am just getting to the point where I feel comfortable using it more than my Windows hard drive. My one major hurdle is that I'm having trouble getting to the point where I can watch tv. I used the synaptic package manager to download tvtime last night, but whenever I try to open it a window briefly opens and immediately closes. I'm not even sure if the tv tuner card is being recognized by ubuntu. Any help will be much appreciated and (since I'm a noob) the more details and direction the better.

Hi - I recommend you read this. I've not had much success with Linux and TV myself, but I might revisit this one soon. The main thing is to know that your card is well supported.
Bear in mind that some TV cards are just not well supported, so the answer in that case is probably to get a new one.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
