    dvd to vcd question


    in my old ms life i used dr. divx and tmpg enc. to make vcds to back up my dvds so my kids don't mess them up. i have done some preliminary searches on google for encoding apps for linux. has anyone here used any apps for this? is so, was the quality good?

    mencoder is unbeatable for ripping movies to mpeg or any other format. If you specificaly want to create vcd's then use DVD::RIP
