Where are the fonts?
Is there a central location as to where fonts are installed, and accessed by programs similar to Windows c:\...\fonts? As far as I can tell there are several places in which programs such as Open Office grab fonts. It appears each program has their own directory.
I have many TTFs that I would like to be able to use in Linux that I use in Windows all the time.

try this:
/usr/share/fonts/
(I'm using mandrake 9.2, it may be diferente on your system).
If this directory doesn't exist,
as root, do: updatedb
then locate /fonts
(something's bound to turn up)
