    Stream Media over ftp?

I have an ftp server set up in my basement that I use for storing files I don't want to keep on my laptop. I'd like to be able to have my music and videos on there, but be able to access them whenever the heck I feel like it without have to download them first. Is there an easy way to stream music and video from an ftp server? The ftp server is running an up to date ubuntu 7.04 Feisty server os (with GUI) and my laptop is running ubuntu 7.04 desktop.

    Uhm, I don't think so.

I'm no expert, but I've just been researching streaming, and it's more difficult than it seems it should be.

The only thing that I can think of is if you set up a local network, you might be able to open them remotely?

    Good luck,
    Dallas
