instaling q3a

ok so im installing quake 3 arena i coppied my pak0.pk3 to the apropriate directory and downloaded the latest q3 point release from id's website. i put it into the quake folder and then loaded a terminal in root mode and ran the file using the sh command and i get the following error. anyone know my work around or am i just SOL cus i use 64 bit linux?

This installation doesn't support glibc-2.1 on Linux / x86_64
(tried to run setup)
