plz tell me, how should i make the mpeg video files run on redhat linux 9?
also wat is Xine??? is that the solution?? for wat else Xine is used??
also tell me the differerence between wine and winex.....
are there any more rpms like this for executing windows files??

ok, you should use Xine (a video player) ......and I think the diference between WIne and Winex is that the second is for games...please if any one else see these reply... tell me if i´m wrong... :)

Redhat won't release the mpeg format with it's distro, since it's propietary. A little googling will quickly turn up what your looking for. Xine and Mplayer both are for viewing media files of virtually any format, like mpeg (once the codec is installed), DVD's, Quicktime (again, once you install the codec), etc... Both are great players, check out their respective web-sites for those elusive codecs I mentioned earlier.
Wine is an open source project to run Windows programs on Linux. Devolopers snatch the open code, make modifications to it, and then sell it as propietary. WineX is typically considered best for playing games, while cros-over office is best for running (obviously) office products. Regardless, WineX will cost you $$$.

i downloaded wine from the winehq site, but after the download i got the wine0505.rpm.part so when i installed it , it couldnt find the wine confoguration file....why's that so and why the "part" attached to the rpm package??

You didn't finish your download. .part file is created to store the partial file while downloading.. and once the download is complete you'll get the correct file. re download your wine 8) Happy WINE :PQuote:
