mplayer and dvd

hi i've got a trouble with play dvd in mplayer when i open it form console :
mplayer dvd://1 i get the response:
Playing dvd://1.
Reading disc structure, please wait...
There are 3 titles on this DVD.
There are 12 chapters in this DVD title.
There are 1 angles in this DVD title.
libdvdread: Invalid IFO for title 1 (VTS_01_0.IFO).
Cannot open the IFO file for DVD title 1.
Try adding "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" to your system startupscripts.
when i try add "echo... i get:
no such file or directory..

some advice? thx

do you have libdvdcss installed? it won't be able to read the disk while it's css protected

yep. i also have the DMA enabled

try ogle instead, it's designed for dvd's, keep mplayer just for video file playing

when i try to play video files in mplayer i get the film frame per frame so i also cannot watch it :(

have you tried using different video output codecs? you can do that in ~/.mplayer/config and you'll need to add vo=xv into it, try using either xv, x11, gl, gl2, if that doesn't work i'd recommend you compile it from source so that it matches your hardware setup and isn't trying to run an i686 compiled binary on an i386 processor or something like that

i've tried other codecs.I compiled mplayer from source and nothing changed.i also update the kernel.i dont know maybe i have to install skin? (im out of ideas) :(

I never could get mplayer to work with commercial DVDs. Finally gave up and used xine instead.

xine says to me :no MRL ( i don't know what is it i google for this problem but i couldn't find anything )

you don't need a skin for mplayer, i use it by itself and keyboard control it, since this isn't specific to mplayer or dvds and also can't play video files i'm not sure what to suggest, other than to make sure you have graphics card drivers installed and configured, but then it should work even on vesa
