what dir should i put the essential codecs pack for mplayer??
I believe it is /usr/local/lib/codecs - you will have to make the codecs directory.

You may not be able to play that DVD if you don't have libdvdcss installed. To play DVD's you will need libdvdcss but I am pretty sure libdvdcss is illegal in the USA. You will want to check the legality of that for yourself.

you can actually set it in the player... the default is
*edit*Code:/usr/lib/win32
I was wrong, that is where xine by default sees them. bryan is correct :oops:
I've never been able to get mplayer to work properly. Doesn't play DVDs, and plays but a few WMV files. I've pretty much gone strictly to gxine.
i got mplayer to open the dvd but now the video is messed up its like broken up into lines hard to explain. i also tried another video like mpeg same thing i have the essential codecs installed into /usr/local/lib/codecs/ is this the write place?? or is there a way i can make mplayer look for the codecs in that dir??
I'm pretty sure it's in /usr/local/lib/win32. I put mine in quite a few places, just to be sure.
If you add packman.iu-bremen.de to your yast sources, you can get a functional mplayer.I am pretty sure that is the source (I have a couple).Code:Server: packman.iu-bremen.de
