Hello there. I'm trying to slowly migrate from windows to linux. I have a dual boot with two primary partitoins and one logical. Two primary are win 2000 server and RH9. The logical is NTFS with 25 GB of my music on. Is there anyway of playing back the MP3 music files on the logical partition whilst booted into Linux???
PS My sound card has been detected and reognised by Linux.

If i cannot achieve this in NTFS, is it possible in FAT 32 cos i can always transfer all the data across and reformat it in FAT 32 then return it to whence it came verily.

this will open the users home directoryCode:HOME

Well i typed home in the terminal window and it didn't like it so i tried cd /home and it went into the home directory. Only problem is iin the tutorial you gave me the link to it says something about going into /windows or /mnt and looking for something that looks lik a cd symbol. My problem is that, how on earth am i going to see any symbols or icons in hte CLI. It just doesn't make sense. I must be missing something really fundamental here.
this link may help you. Its were i got the HOME command, it has a listing of all commands. linux commands ill keep trying to find it :D

you can run your mp3 files from either a NTFS partition or a FAT one.
take a look at where you mounted your windows partition and find the directories where the songs are..
don't forget you have to install players
RH9 has them in its own cds, just manage to install them if you don't have yet..
