I have recently loaded Linux FC4 on my Dell Latitude D410. During the installation I received a message saying that my sound card was not recognized. It appears that Linux knows the manufacturer of my card, but can not get it to work.
Any Suggestions?

You would probably have been better to post this in the Fedora forum. It might be a question of loading the right driver for your card. It's often a case of experimenting with different drivers (the default isn't always the best).
Which sound server are you using btw? ALSA is very good. If you type lspci in a console it should list recognised hardware and current drivers. You may need to be root to do this?

Do you have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 PCI that was shipped by default with your Dell computer?
If so, congratulations! You can't use it in Linux!
Yes, that's right folks, this card apparently doesn't use a Soundblaster chipset, and so is ENTIRELY NONFUNCTIONAL WITH ALSA!! YEEHA!!
Yeah...I basically had this problem with the default Dell soundcard. If this is the card you have, you'll need a new one.
Old Card: SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 PCI
New Card: SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 PCI MP3+
The latter works. The former doesn't.
