i am unable to configure sound drivers for the above motherboard (intel 865gbf). I think i need ac97 sound drivers and i810 sound drivers etc. Can someone help me out? and tell me where i can download these drivers from?

Most 2.6 kernels have support for AC97, you might just have to compile support for it into your kernel.
