Can anyone tell me how to reset the volume control to a level where it stays where I set it after a reboot! I've tried all the mixers, logged in as root, set the volume to 93%. Next time I boot up its gone back to 67% again - it's driving me insane!!!
I must be missing something
Are you using oss or alsa, and also, just to be sure, did you use alsamixer?
I'm not actually sure!
In control centre under sound system it is set to "Autodetect" - OSS and ALSA are there as other options.
Have used QAMix, KMix and alsamixerGUI - just tried again using alsamixerGUI, rebooted and level back at 67%
i use alsa on gentoo and this worked for me.
good luck with that.
amixer set Master 100% unmute
amixer set PCM 100% unmute
amixer set Center 100% unmute
amixer set Surround 100% unmute
amixer set Headphone 100% unmute
Thanks guys - will check these out - tomorrow, I must go to bed!
You can also use the alsactl store and restore commands.
