.wav to .mp3?

I'm trying to convert .wav to .mp3. I tried audacity but I don't know where to download the lame file. I tried sox but that doesn't support mp3 encoding? Mplayer with some debian based systems isn't too good so I'm not going to try that. How do I convert a .wav to a .mp3?

RipperX has always worked flawlessly for me...

Well I got ripperx, isn't only for ripping music off cd drives?

Grip does the job fine, otherwise there's also kwavencoder for KDE, very handy :). Integrates into Konqueror, you can convert music from within the file browser...

thanks, at first I had trouble compiling it but now I got it and audacity can save as mp3's. :)
