Finally installed my USB IrDA dongle(can help if anyone needs).
Now I want to send/receive files from my cell phone(SonyEricsson K500).
When I try to send a file from the phone it tells that it cant find a receiver.
IrDAdump works:

Should I use any additional software?
My old Fujitsu has an IrDA device built in...I've never used it. Rather than start my own thread, I'll ask in this one: What practical use is there for an IrDA thingy, and what open source software is available that makes use of them?
Ive had a look into using IRDA for remote control....
I think Lirc is the standard app for that, but i couldnt make it work...its all a bit hard.
Um i think irda is a form of wireless networking, using ir light instead of radio waves like wifi networks - thats what it is for.
As for transfering files from a phone i do remeber an app, http://www.gnokii.org/, i think that may help you.
If irdump is working, then you're on the right track. What does irw tell you?
