Keep in mind that Gentoo is considered an advanced distribution, so if you are new to Linux, you'll undoubtedly run into some hurdles. That's why I recommend printing out the handbook. You'll get to do lots of command line work, too, unless they've changed it since I last installed it.

thank you very much for you help! ^_^
i have an extra computer with the handbook open. i really want to learn about linux. i suppose this is a good way to go about learning it. thank you and everyone else for your help again.

unfortunatly i recieved the same error message as with the live cd. so i do not think it is the live cds fualt. i'm assuming it does not have the driver or does not use the driver i need to run it's gui. does anyone have any idea for a fix? or a different way to go about installing gentoo that might work?

Did you get these errors after installing from the minimal install cd? The reason I ask is because the minimal install disc is text only, so you shouldn't get Xorg errors.

gentoo NOX

hey....at the boot screen of livecd.....boot with the command 'gentoo nox'....which stands for 'NO X-server'....this'll allow u to install gentoo first and THEN....update ur drivers and kernel or watever else u'll need...this is what i did with mine...
