Can't boot Gentoo on LVM2 root

Hi All,

I just got done with a Gentoo installation on an LVM2 root (ext4 filesystem). I've compiled my kernel with all of the filesystems I need, including ext4, and LVM2 support, in the kernel. I installed the LILO bootloader. But when I go boot, I get something like the following:

Code:
[snip]
List of all partitions:
No filesystem could mount root, tried: reiserfs ext3 ext2 ext4 iso9660 fuseblk udf xfs
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(253,3)
Any help in resolving this issue is appreciated.

Have you checked the driver for the harddrive is built into the kernel, and also checked filesystem support are built-in rather than modules? are you sure you have correct specification for root? I have not used lvm but have had similar messages (at least last line) from the listed issues ...
