Talking Strange error while su'ing in Konsole

Whenever I su to root in konsole, i get this error:

configuration error - unknown item 'FAILLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'LASTLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'FTMP_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_ROOTPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'PASS_MIN_LEN' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'CHFN_AUTH' (notify administrator)

Im not sure what it really means, but it doesnt seem like it hinders me from doing anything. I would like to get it out of the way just in case it does mess stuff up.

The file '/etc/login.defs' may be missing or currupted...

This happens sometimes in gentoo when you update your install, for example with "emerge -uD world, without then updateing the config files. Run etc-update, and you'll have a list of config files that need updateing, you can do it all automaticall, NOT ADVISED, or do them manually and see each of the changes...

Post back if this has not fixed your problem, but I've only ever encountered this, and I have a few times, under the rubric of an extremely large emerge -uD world...
