Stupid Newb Can't Login to Sabayon

I can't log in to my user account any longer... I can log in as root and I can login with my user on the console, however when i try just using the login screen it acts as if it is logging in, goes to the load screen and then right back to the login screen. When I login using the konsole and try running anything using kdesu or whatever i get an error telling me it cannot connect to the x server I have read a few posts related to this issue and all I can gather is that there is some issue with the .iceauthority and/or .xauthority but being the extreme uber newb that i am i have no knowledge on how to even approach fixing this.

oh and another interesting side note, when i log in as root and try to access the profile manager it doesn't even list any profiles.
