I could be wrong, but it's probably username root with password root, or no password at all.

Gentoo installation LiveCDs do not ask you for password during bootup, and the current version is 2007.0. Please get a proper copy at Gentoo Linux -- Where to Get Gentoo Linux

If you want to have a hassle free installation, you'd probably better check out the documentation at the Gentoo website, too. Gentoo is well known for their outstanding handbook.
