    emerge question!

    hello everyone!
im new to gentoo and i wanna know if it is possible to install packages using emerge but without downloading them with it. i mean, if i download a package and all its dependencies etc... (without using emerge), how can i install it using emerge? and if not with emerge then how?? i would appreciate it if your responses describes the procedures that i have to do in a few simple steps (im still a gentoo noob...).

    thanx in advance!

P.S. can i use packages from the "Gentoo Package CD" although my laptop's architecture is x86?
