Odd Error During Install (Invalid Token)

The error goes as follows

The line starting with <!DOCTYPE is the line 8, ive googled this error, but to no avail. I would switch back to the gentoo 2004.1, but this is all being done remotly, and i don't have access to the machine, someone set up sshd, then left. Any insite? at least as to what the error might mean more accuratly?

I can't imagine what has posesed you to include HTML markup in the make.conf.. remove lines that include HTML

I didn't the mirrorselect command did, i just deleted everything below MAKEOPTS and it rcontinued fine, im emerging the system as we speak.
