Thats about it.... it does not let me install xfce. I tried to install gnome and the same thing happened... seems I cannot emerge anything. ...

Can't emerge xfce4: econf failed
It says
die: econf failed
Thats about it.... it does not let me install xfce. I tried to install gnome and the same thing happened... seems I cannot emerge anything. It did this after I did emerge depclean. I have did emerge --sync and emerge -Duv world, still nothing.
I know that there are a few config files that must be updated... but I doubt that is a problem.
Help!

Please, paste here at least the last 20-30 lines of the output and your emerge --info.

emerge -Duv xfce4 did not help much.
I think I might just have to do a Gentoo reinstall. Not sure how I messed it up so much.

Well, maybe it isn't messed up that bad. You could try pasting the info that i92guboj asked for, maybe you just have some wrong info that messing things up. Or you could re-install, it's all up to you.
