Here is my result and my best score so far so feel free to share yours achievements .

Funny part is that this is seen via Putty:
localhost ~ # hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 2384 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1192.11 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 750 MB in 3.00 seconds = 249.67 MB/sec

and this is seen via terminal console:
localhost ~ # hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 2398 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1198.53 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 748 MB in 3.00 seconds = 249.14 MB/sec

same PC same drive
