New netword card
Well first of all i'd like to say hi to all linux uers =] i am new here, and im new to linux too, been using it has my server for less then a week now, my friend gaved me a HUGE lift to install it, so i thought id give him a break by checking forums for help ^^
anyway, to get back to my troubles. I have bought a second netword card, since i will be using a switch + router i need to use another network card to transfer at 1000mbps =], but yeah the thing is that my server wont detect my network card, i have tried recompiling, but it didn't do anything, i have also triedsince my main eth is 0, if i am right my second network card should be eth1 :P anyway, its a D-link DGE 530T, i know its compatible, because its the same as my first one PLUS it says that it is compatible with linux kernel 2.6 =]ifconfig eth1 up
thanks for reading, hope someone can help me
if you have any question on my server lemme know, ill answer asap :P

Hello and Welcome.
Post the output of this command(as root) to find out which chipset is installed on the cards.
If that doesn't work then just post then entire output ofCode:lspci -v |grep -i net
Next post the output of this command to find out which modules are being loaded.Code:lspci -v
The above command could possibly post a large output.Code:lsmod

You have the correct modules loaded, forcedeth for the nvidia and skge for the DGE-530T.
Now all you should need to do is either set the connection with a network tool like Wicd or Network manager OR set this all by hand, as described in the Gentoo handbook.
Post the output of

Sorry, I've not had any experience with using more than one network card at once....I don't know what you need to do to accomplish that.
