- 12-16-2009 #2Should fix your problem. You must configure your mysql server before you can start it.Code:
emerge --config mysql

and wtf is Funtoo ? =O XD

Funtoo is a fork of Gentoo by the original Gentoo creator, Daniel Robbins. It is more of a bleeding edge distro.
Now, since you are running Gentoo stable, and don't have crazy cflags, have you ran an etc-update since your last update? Have you ran revdep-rebuild since having the mysql problems? Have you ran an emerge --sync && emerge -avuDN world since installing mysql?
If you have done all of that, have you tried reinstalling mysql?
I have had the problem of mysql not starting before, but I don't exactly recall what it was that was causing it. I want to say use flags, but I really don't remember.

Well the thing is that mysql is like the third emerge i did after i got my server xD, and yes i tried re installing, i did the unmerge, unemerge, or wtf xD, but it worked, but how can i be sure EVERYTHING got removed? so there wasn't any files left?
And Funtoo sounds nice, so much different Linux sources :P
- 12-17-2009 #8
You need to install some portage utilities.
then, to make sure all of your linking is correct, run this:Code:emerge gentoolkit
That will check all of your library dynamic linking and fix it should it find a problem.Code:revdep-rebuild -i

Nope, still failed, the tool worked and all, but my mysql still wont start X_X
- 12-18-2009 #10
Ok, since I am not in linux right now, would you check /var/log and any subfolders to see if there is a mysql log, and if it has any errors in it?
If we can find why it isn't starting, I am sure we can fix it.
