Yes, you need to follow the handbook religiously. for your own good..post your /etc/make.conf file and lets see what going on here....

    y but book says that i must type "emerge --sync for update, i type this and message from previous post commes up.

    i dont know what was the problem
    i delate this all and start from the beginning and now is right, emerge --sync works fine...

    i'm done, create all, reboot...
    on boot choose gentoo and error comes up: cant read....
    i give up.... maybe i try another time....
