Sabayon 5.4 ALSA problem
I have 5.4 Sabayon (LXDE) installed...
I am not able to configure ALSA and up my sound...
My device driver
Snd-hda-intel ; STAC 9205
I tried different solutions in varius forums like adding options snd-hda-intel model=ref/auto/dell-m42/3stack/5stack etc!!
Also I am not sure where exactly to modify and the sequence of steps to be followed
i am doing the foll
1. alsaconf
2.rmmod snd-hda-intel (remove existing driver)
2./etc/modules.d - create a file "alsa" and add options snd-hda-intel model=various options
3.update-modules
4. Reboot
There are also other files like /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf which states it is a file created by ALSA and mentions "Do not Edit" ...Should I also add "option snd-hda-intel model= Stack /ref/auto blah blah and bull **it ...)
i am fed up up with this nonsense ,...
This is after spending a looong time researching but in vain
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 - core2Duo ...Everything onboard....no separate cards
Except Ubuntu and its variants and some debian based distros in all the others (Arch/sabayon/slack)
I dont know why this trial and error method should be used while others play it out of the box ...The others also use th same kernel....Is some Patch reqired?
