Odd probs with Gentoo install
Tried installing gentoo 1.4 last night.
Gave up after 3 attempts.
Each time the following happened:
Entered chroot etc
Manually compiled kernel
When it completed it dropped straight out of the chroot environment.
Nothing saved under src, arch etc
Installed from this disk on this pc before with no probs. I'm obviously making a glaring boo-boo somewhere. Any idea what it might be. If I can't solve it then I might have to install Debian

Hello,
run genkernel instead of manually compiling the kernel... (just to get something up and running)
I wouldn't wanna spoil your kernel-compiling-fun

Re: Odd probs with Gentoo install
I have used that before. Works well on a single user system but it gave me hell when I tried to add other users. Summat about the install that knoppix does that is not quite 'Debian'.
