    remove kmail completely

    Hi,

I am trying to remove kmail completely from my system so that I can start over. But for some reason there are files left over after kamil is removed as when I re-install the old setup is still present.

Anyone have any idea how to remove everything so I can get a fresh start?

    Thanks.

    Regards
    Robert

You don't need to remove the whole program, just the settings for your user. Look at your home folder for files beginning with a "." thats where the settings are. I don't remember if kmail stores its settings on .kmail or .kde/mail or something like that. but be careful, you may end up ruining something else so first rename the folder instead of deleting it.

    Good luck

Well, I stopped using KDE since 4 came out, but I'd say that what you need is in the /home/rjs/.kde4/share/apps/kmail2 folder you show. What I would do is rename this folder and see what happens, if it breaks something else change it back.

No good. Just a lock file there which gets re-created.

Have you checked to see if you have a hidden .kmail file in your /home folder?

    *EDIT*
Never mind... I accidentally scrolled past the first few lines of your locate output.
    These look likely, however:
    Code:
    /home/rjs/.kde4/share/config/kmail-migratorrc
    /home/rjs/.kde4/share/config/kmail.eventsrc
    /home/rjs/.kde4/share/config/kmail2rc
