Gentoo Installation - Wireless Network Card Help
Hola! Im getting ready to install Gentoo on a laptop and I was wondering what support it has for wireless network cards straight from the installation (if any) and if I need to get any drivers to install it.
The card is a Dell TrueMobile 1150 Wireless LAN (b) card.
Thanks in advance!

This card is relatively well supported in Linux. It very well might work on the LiveCD itself using the stock kernel. In order to test this, try doing:
and then do:Code:ifconfig -a modprobe wavelan_cs modprobe orinoco_cs
and see if there is anything there that wasn't there the first time, or anything like wlan0.Code:ifconfig -a
Even if it doesn't work with the stock kernel, it should work fine after you install Gentoo. Just when you are configuring the kernel, don't forget to include support for Orinoco wireless cards.

After the tons of trouble I've had with wireless in Linux, I'm very sympathetic towards others with problems.
