Athlon64, vidalinux, installing ondemand or powernow
I have just installed vidalinuxfor AMD64, which I have found to be very nice on my Sager np4750. However, I have also found it to be less supportive for all the hardware on my laptop than SuSE9.2 Pro was. The first thing that I want to do is get the cpu frequency scaling working properly, as at the moment, my laptop fans are screaming. Could someone point me in the direction of a very simplified, step-by-step guide to successfully get my processor to work properly? Or lay out the steps in this thread. I need a very basic approach, as I have never recompiled a kernel, used portage before or done a host of other things that would make this task easier
And then, of course, once that is taken care of, there is the question of ATi drivers, my bluetooth mx900, firefox.... woot!
