Emerge help. Networkless installation of packages?
I'm brand new to Linux.
I'm installing Gentoo without a working network. I am using the Universal Live CD (the big one).
This is my fifth try on installing Gentoo and I'm about 1/3 of the way through. I'm at the part where you have to install your kernel. Somehow whenever I use the code:
I get the error,Code:(Live CD /) # emerge gentoo-sources
"Temporary faliure in name resolution,
!!! couldn't download linux-2.4.26.tar.bz2."
I know I can't download it. Is there a way to tell Emerge that want the files to install off the Live CD?

I'm not sure on the anatomy of the Universal LiveCD, but you should be able to make a symlink from the package dir on the CD to /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles before you chroot.
